Sod is the fastest way to go from bare dirt to a finished lawn. It is the right call after construction, after a utility or sewer repair tears up the yard, or when a lawn is too far gone for seed to rescue in a reasonable timeframe.
The quality of a sod job is decided before the first roll goes down. We remove debris, grade for drainage away from the foundation, and prepare a firm, level soil surface. Sod laid over lumpy, compacted ground will always show seams and dry patches.

Our process
Site assessment
We check grade, drainage, soil condition and irrigation, and flag anything that needs correcting before sod goes down.
Prep and grading
Old material is removed, soil is amended if needed, and the area is graded smooth and firm with positive drainage away from the house.
Sod installation
Sod is laid tight with staggered seams, trimmed cleanly around beds and hardscape, and rolled for full soil contact.
Watering plan
We water in and give you a clear two-to-three week schedule for rooting, plus guidance on when to make the first cut.
Sod and Michigan lawns
Most sod grown for southeast Michigan is a Kentucky bluegrass blend, which handles our winters and full-sun exposure well and knits together quickly once rooted.
Spring and early fall installs establish most easily here. Mid-summer sod can succeed but demands disciplined watering, since a hot, dry stretch in July will shrink seams within days.
On clay-heavy Oakland County lots, compaction is the usual culprit behind a struggling new lawn. Loosening and amending that top layer before installation makes far more difference than anything applied afterward.
